Hockey Canada Rule Updates for 2024

Playing rule updates:
Rule 6.3-e-I. Regardless of how the puck went out of play in the end zone, the face-off is at the nearest spot it went out in the end zone. It does not go outside as a result of the attacking player being the player that caused it to go out of play.

Rule 10.2a - any deliberate(player makes an attempt and touches puck) hand pass from one teammate to another in the neutral or attacking zone will be blown down unless the opposing team takes possession. If it deflects off an opposing player and your teammate picks it up it should be blown down because the opposing team did not take control.

Physical Rule updates:
Rule 7.1a. - grabbing facemask or anything with the head with minimal degree of violence will be a minimum of a double minor. If he grabs the mask and shakes or attempts to rip the helmet off a major or match should be assessed.

Rule 8.8c - slew footing - depending on the degree of violence you can assess a match penalty. Assess a match if they go down hard/ hit their head on ice or boards. Double minor if they get clipped and trip backwards but can get their hand or arm down. Use your judgment on the degree of violence.

Rule 10.5a - if a player drops a glove or stick and an opposing player kicks or moves it in any manner, a minor will be assessed. Clearing a broken stick is ok unless they throw it in the stands.

Rule 7.7 - head contact - depending on the degree of violence, but, face washes should be a double minor. If a player lifts an opponent’s stick causing head contact this would apply as well, otherwise, typical head contact rules apply. A punch to the face with a glove on should be a major.

Mises à jour des règles du jeu:
Règle 6.3-e-I. Peu importe comment la rondelle est sortie du jeu dans la zone d’en-but, la mise au jeu a lieu à l’endroit le plus proche où elle est sortie dans la zone d’en-but. Elle ne sort pas du jeu parce que le joueur attaquant est celui qui l’a fait sortir du jeu.

Règle 10.2a - toute passe délibérée (le joueur tente de toucher le palet) d’un coéquipier à un autre dans la zone neutre ou offensive sera sifflée, sauf si l’équipe adverse en prend possession. Si le palet est dévié par un joueur adverse et que votre coéquipier le récupère, il doit être sifflé, car l’équipe adverse n’en a pas pris le contrôle.

Mises à jour des règles physiques:
Règle 7.1a. - Saisir le masque facial ou tout autre élément avec la tête avec un minimum de violence entraînera au minimum une double pénalité mineure. S’il saisit le masque et secoue ou tente d’arracher le casque, une pénalité majeure ou un match doit être infligé.

Règle 8.8c - Slew footing (fauchage) - En fonction du degré de violence, vous pouvez infliger une pénalité de match. Infliger une pénalité de match si le joueur tombe lourdement ou se cogne la tête contre la glace ou la bande. Infliger une double pénalité mineure s’il est accroché et trébuche en arrière, mais peut poser sa main ou son bras au sol. Utiliser votre jugement pour évaluer le degré de violence.

Règle 10.5a - si un joueur laisse tomber son gant ou son bâton et qu’un joueur adverse le frappe du pied ou le déplace de quelque manière que ce soit, une pénalité mineure sera infligée. Il est acceptable de dégager un bâton cassé, sauf s’il est lancé dans les tribunes.

Règle 7.7 - contact avec la tête - en fonction du degré de violence, mais les coups au visage doivent être sanctionnés par une double pénalité mineure. Si un joueur soulève le bâton d’un adversaire et provoque un contact avec la tête, cette règle s’applique également, sinon, les règles habituelles relatives aux contacts avec la tête s’appliquent. Un coup de poing au visage avec un gant doit être sanctionné par une pénalité majeure.
